Was my framing of the story slightly loaded? Probably. Was it 100% incorrect or disingenuous? Definitely not. The WaPo article shows that their journalists are upset and irritated about the "whiteness" of the Argentinian NT. The unmistakable subtext of their article is

"why can't your NT be 50+% black like those of France/Belgium/England/Germany/Brazil?
Argentina, y u so racist?"



Do you seriously think this sentiment from the WaPo editorial desk has changed over the past 11 days? They let the mask slip; that they did so before the finals doesn't really make things notably better.

The problem is that WaPo thought it necessary to respond to a "white" Argentinean team by running an article on why Argentina is secretly diverse, and only "white" due to nefarious erasure of blackness. It's not a defense to say the article is click bait, that's the entire point.
