LOL.
Of course median income talks to how the median American is doing, that's the definition. American incarceration rates are in line with America's high rates of crime, if you want to go back and muddle through the posts you dodged earlier, you are welcome to. I'm not sure what state surveillance you think impacts the average American's life. We're certainly a world away from the sort of monitoring that is happening on a daily basis in the UK (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_surveillance_in_the_United_Kingdom#CCTV_networks). Health-care in the United States is largely paid for via insurance. It's an incredibly inefficient system, but America is thankfully wealthy enough to afford it. The difference in average spending per capita between Germany and the United States (on health-care) is roughly ~$5k (gdp ppp). The median income gap between those two countries is roughly ~$13k. I'm sure you can do the math. As for "inequality-adjusted" HDI, sample a 1000 foreigners and ask them whether they'd like to move to the United States or Poland. The results (we both know) tell you all you need to know about the value of your newly preferred metric. You're introducing this because you know that the United States's HDI is indistinguishable from the wealthiest EU countries, and that's with poor regional states like Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana pulling American averages down. Can you imagine if we bucketed Germany with their poor serfs in Southern and Eastern Europe? Compare American equality against EU equality and get back to me.
more mental gymnastics and flawed analogies to avoid the massive inequality and significantly lower standard of living for the overwhelming majority of americans. you're such a desperate hack. you might consider it patriotism, but it's brain-dead jingoism. real patriots acknowledge flaws and try to improve their country, morons use fallacies and bad statistics trying to misrepresent and deflect.
you want to compare the US and germany? feel free, go ahead. we have more freedom, less poverty, better life expectancy, higher HDI, better healthcare, better equality, significantly less crime and prison populations, comprehensive worker protections, guaranteed maternal leave... and we're a country with almost 85 million people, with economically / structurally weaker and stronger region, a country that gave refuge to millions of people fleeing from wars the US started or created - and we don't sit on an abundance of natural resources and land like you guys, do not excert cultural hegemony over the majority of prosperous nations like the US after WWII.
the reason the majority of US citizen is significantly worse off than the majority of germans is the boot you keep licking. politicians selling out to the rich and powerful. you being too dumb or too proud to realise that doesn't change it. your guns did nothing to prevent that, you're just telling yourself that lie over and over again because it helps you justify all the dead kids.
