This thing is a lay-up full of trash with zero long term effects.

The most populist thing in there had to get axed.

You'll have to be more specific. The point of the bill is to deal with COVID and the economic downturn. The criticism that it's not fundamentally structured to be a long-term package is a strange one.

It got axed because the minimum wage can't be raised through reconciliation. The bill had to be passed through reconciliation because no Republicans supported it.

OMB reported minimum wage was not deficit neutral. The only obstacle was the parliamentarian which the VP could have over-ruled. It was not included because as you could see from the vote earlier this week it was doa.

Still waiting on a substantive criticism of the bill.

- Schools don't actually need a boost to open back up.

- Vaccine roll-out has been well underway without additional funding.

- State tax revenue from last year is barely down or up in every state.

- They had to lower unemployment benefits even without needing GOP votes.

- They had to tighten the income window even without needing GOP votes.

Its a bloated stimulus that only polls high because people want 1400$

so in short: it contains items that don't benefit YOU directly, therefore it's bad.
but you will ofc still accept the $1,400 while bitching about dems and ignoring that republicans would have given you NOTHING...

Most of the provisions will benefit me directly or indirectly through my state.

Don't project your philosophy onto me.

Republicans would of gave the full 2000, but you know Nancy blocked it.

The economy was only short $300-600 billion. The bill overshot the mark with pork and spending and this will likely lead to stagflation.

Bezos loved the bill so you know who it benefitted.

Whether it can be passed or not was an advisory opinion by the senate parliamentarian, which is trivial to overrule. It got axed because most dems dont care about it.
