Learned we don't have tests for these and neither do most American hospitals because the FDA hasn't approved the ones being used everywhere else. They are rationing them, and only giving them to test people who have met the profile. The case in Washington the woman was denied a test by the FDA because she didn't fit the profile of someone vulnerable to it.
Less than 100 hospitals have testing ability for this. That is two in
every state...realistically that means only certain states have them and others just cannot check for this.
There were kits but they didn't work very well and they were rejected and now the kits that people are using have not been approved yet.
We have this massive botched response to this major emergency and our government leader is saying it's overblown and that has a hunch that the numbers are wrong.
Testing more people disclose more cases, cost money, create panic on the markets, and finally worries the opinion against politics (who get free top notch healthcare anyway) in charge.
There's even a second phase where you get the re-infection once you re-open the schools & factories... (this is what is happening in China).
So the "logic" for your politics is short term solution: to test the lowest amount of people...
That's really lame, because the absolute first thing they should do is to push massive information to prevent spread: no handshake etc... And that if you feel sick with xyz symptoms call this number etc...
AND

As social worker you are in serious trouble.
