while playing video games on the internet and correcting the misuse of pronouns i had my first encounter with misogyny in the online gaming community :o

this brings up the question, is there a problem with discrimination against women in the online gaming community? given that almost half of all gamers are female i'd like to think not but let's get some thoughts from our resident pardians

I don't think 50% of gamers across all games are female. Last I heard League was like 70-30?

its more of a 'females played candy crush, farmville or angry birds once' sort of statistic.

Sadly that's sort of what I was thinking. Video games vs "video games".

That being said, some of my best female friends are hard core gamers.

My wife used to be a gamer. Now she just does Clash of Clans so not really. I miss playing actual video games with her though.

Get some co-op shooters on a console. That's a good thing to do together...like get the Halo Legacy thing with all the Halo games.

We have plenty of that....we even got two PS4s so we could play over PSN because nobody makes actual co-op games anymore. Destiny, Borderlands, GTA V, etc....they both just sit there unless the kids use them

Make Thursday night family gaming night :> Get you and the wife and the kids together and shit around. Get one of those stupid twister spinners, give everyone a color and the winner of the spin picks the game.

Speaking of games, you know what should exist? Trivial Pursuit, Meme Edition.

I've looked at a lot of these sex statistics in gaming out of curiosity and that tends to be how it goes down.

Wish I had more female friends that were real gamers.

People in video games will hate you for pretty much any characteristic imaginable.
There is discrimination against pretty much everything in the gaming community.
It's definitely not a place for sensitive people.

If you stop thinking of them as "real" and "fake" gamers you might.
