If we find that he was part of some hate-filled group that argued for violence/killing Christians because how oppressive they are to lgbtq people and that's in his manifesto, why shouldn't we share it? TBH this doesn't glorify the person at all, it just opens people's eyes of the masses to some of the hate that's harbored.
A 5 second pass away comment that's politically correct crafted by the police on the perps motivation is not enough. People deserve to know and analyze for themselves. I believe this about all mass shooters not just this specific case.
I think we should share that. I'm not saying that details within the manifesto shouldn't be shared. I'm saying that only the details that are of direct benefit to society knowing should be released, and the manifesto whole-sale should be reserved for courts and criminal proceedings.
I can only lead people to this water, but can't make them drink. There's a wealth of research demonstrating just how frequent mass shooters are inspired by and want to get a "higher score" from past shooters. I'm not advocating for anything new, either, as we already have media standards like this for suicide. We learned really quickly that wanton reporting of suicide has had adverse, unintended impact. We responded accordingly, and I can only hope we learn from that lesson again and apply it soon.
