Whites outnumbering blacks isn't a meaningful statistic without the context I just provided. What your groups "know" is nothing more than a talking point.

I thought it was pretty funny because the obvious answer to, "Do you think most welfare recipients are black, white, or hispanic?" is white, just because there's a whole lot more white people in the country than black people or hispanic people. But of course, republicans live in some fantasy world where 90% of black people are on welfare, so they miss the obvious.

This is a framing technique. Asked "Do you think a black or white person is more likely to be on welfare?" yields an entirely different answer.

Of course it does. I don't think anyone disputes that. But republicans conflate, "Do you think most welfare recipients..." with, "People of which race are most likely..." (That second one is such a weird idea that it's kinda hard to write coherently) and that's what's funny. But it also means that it's literally impossible to have a conversation about policy with most republicans.

Can't force a liberal to look at data objectively, they look at something like this and choose to see what they want.
