If the state forces businesses to close or alter operations, it's reasonable that those businesses are compensated in some way. I don't think it's hypocritical for libertarian organizations to take the money.

how exactly was the ayn rand institute impacted by corona measures "forced" by "the state", that they would not have implemented without "the state"? also, would it further diminish the hypocrisy if they bought bootstraps from the money?

I call you reading my post and response to you yesterday, skipping it, and continuing on with this kind of stuff, "Willful Ignorance."

You're right, it's unreasonable to think government-enforced lockdown measures had any effect on the institute's financial health.

They should have saved for a rainy day. Obviously they should take personal responsibility for their inability to pay their employees in case a pandemic happens.

Unfortunately, I don't think this is practical anymore. We're a highly-indebted country full of highly indebted individuals and highly indebted corporations. There is no financial incentive to saving anymore. It's like Noam Chomsky said about the '08 bailouts and the move to plutocracy... we have privatized profits and socialized losses. Just the way it is now.

relax, no need to strawman me that badly - their hilarious press statement, trying to inb4 the expected and well deserved backlash, already betrayed them.

whatever, it's a silly 'philosophy', if you personally acknowledge the hypocrisy in this particular case or not, it really doesn't matter - and my main point was the unprecedented grifting and self-dealing by the administration that still touts the 'drain the swamp' slogan, and the silence of its braindead followers.
