Looks like it had nothing to do with the crime and had more to do with the fact that he was YO when he was originally sentenced. Idk about any facts from the case but the fact that he was YO had a lot to do with skipping prison time and going straight to sex offender status.

Kid would most likely ended up in Marcy J dorm for something he did as a minor. Take it from somebody who did over three years in that facility alone, that little boy would likely be killed on the inside. The judge obviously took that into consideration along with his age when he committed the crimes.
