It still boggles my mind that the first boomer president was eleted in 1992 while it took until 2020 (and a myriad of very lucky breaks) to elect the first president from the silent generation.

Late 40s to late 60s is the ideal age for political leaders. Anything 75 and up is very questionable. Not just because an awful lot of people start losing a step around this age - at some point, old people just just become too detached from the culture, experiences and values of too many segments of society. At some point, it just becomes impossible to really grasp what's driving the younger generations and thus to adequately represent them. A few old farts being sprinkled in among the political leaders is okay, but it will lead to suboptimal outcomes when a country's entire leadership belongs in a museum.
