a profound failure

Smith, who is predominantly treating Covid-19 patients at a hospital in New York City, revealed the tragic last words of a dying man he was about to place on a ventilator: “Who’s going to pay for it?” the coronavirus patient asked Smith in between labored breaths.

“They were last words I’ll never forget,” Smith told CNN.

“(This patient) was in severe respiratory distress, had difficulty speaking, and yet still his main concern was who could pay for a procedure that would his extend his life but statistically he doesn’t have a good likelihood of survival.”

Knowing that the patient was most likely not going to recover once he was intubated, Smith and his colleagues called the man’s wife to give them what may have been their last chance to say goodbye.

Most Covid-19 patients will die after being placed on ventilators, with the mortality rate reaching up to 80% in intubated coronavirus patients, Smith said. While he does not know whether his patient survived, he said it was “pretty unlikely.”

Smith called the incident “by far the worst thing” he has witnessed in his 12 years of critical care and anesthesia and said the moment shed light on a health care system that he says has been and still is failing its people.

“I was very sad and honestly, a little horrified. This demonstrates that we have a profound failure when one has to worry about their finances when they’re dealing with much bigger issues that have to do with life or death.”

Quarantine is great in this instance. It isn't equally enforced and people who aren't living in top of each other can't distance themselves as easily.

Not sure how what i said was triggering :/ it wasnt classist or anything.

Ann Frank was classified as a public health risk and killed, my point.

The Anne Frank thing is something entirely different though. In a nutshell: Hitler hated the Jews because he accused them of undermining the economy / financial system. This had to do with the situation Germany found itself in after WW1 (poverty / hyperinflation) combined with the fact that Jews traditionally were invested / working in gold, diamonds and banks and such.

Hitler blaming the Jews for everything had nothing to do with public health.

Smearing the target group as a public health threat is one of the staples of the demagoguery playbook.

Accusing them of a financial back stab that made Germany lose WW1 and blaming them for the dire situation 1921-1924 hyperinflation etc, worked a lot better. The whole population suffered and were ready to be influenced by Hitler. He could not have wished for a better time.

BTW the whole population felt humiliated by the Versailles treatment and the reparation payments imposed by the French was the real reason of the situation in Germany at the time.

So there you go. You might want to read up a bit about all of that.

Correction: You spent days stalking me trying to "expose" some account I literally only use for RMT. Then you pussied out when the big bad moderators glanced in your direction. If you're this much of a coward on an anonymous Diablo II forum, I can only imagine how spineless you are in real life.

Tkt, tu pourras toujours montrer tes trophees de PoE a ta petite amie (quand tu la trouve).

This man is correct.

I don't understand Djuniors kneejerk to this.

The Jews weren't just economic scapegoats they were dirty and they're also poisoning people with their ideas and all these other multi faceted techniques are used to slander them. They had to be put in ghettos to keep the others clean.

Nobody is going to mass murder their neighbors for financial reasons lol. Always do it the name of public health.

Does this guy think I'm comparing Coronavirus measures to Hitler? That would be dumb AF and I've given no reason for anyone to think that.

Amazing that you need to bring whites vs blacks conspiracies and now alternative Hitler vs Jews theories to prove some point regarding COVID-19.

lel

I kinda get what you're trying to say though. Rich whites are better off than poor blacks. Well yep that's how it currently works in USA and that's also what made that healthcare system the most expensive in the world. Fixing that is almost not an option, would require a complete reinvention of pharmaceutical industry, how hospitals are run, salaries etc. Revolution?
