We had very little to do with slavery. It's not our problem that some of our most poverty-stricken and criminal members of society went to the New World and instigated the slave trade. They couldn't handle living in a civilised society so they took other people's land and enslaved Africans in the process. When we colonised countries we brought civilisation and opportunity, just look at Hong Kong now.
