I'm sure he'll turn it all around in 27 days.
his latest messaging makes it clear, shifting from "it will disappear in summer" to "we're handling it quite well" to now "we dont need to handle it, its nothing to worry about, we will live with it".
its how brainwashing always works, it's not a problem, then i fixed the problem, then it was never a problem (also i didnt fix it).
america seems increasingly less interested with who can fix problems and more interested in who takes problems seriously. this is a problem for trump, because the guy "taking problems seriously" in 2016 was him. he was against china, willing to build a wall, wanted the military modernized, wanted the VA addressed, etc. no solutions that worked in reality on paper, but he was taking them seriously. 2020 is a HELL of a year to try out "everything is fine" rhetoric.

It's an effective political slogan. On the substance, I'm not sure if it's actually accurate though. Or let's rather say it ducks away from the real crux of the issue.
No western country has gotten covid under control so far. Most were able to limit the damage in terms of infection numbers and death toll somewhat, but they dont have it under control and are not in a position to genuinely reopen their economies. As things stand right now, it seems as if the economy will remain in shambles and continue to suffer until a vaccine has become available and widely distributed. Which will take at least another 6-9 months, if not longer. It's time we acknowledge this reality instead of running after this idea that everything would be fine if only people wore their mask more reliably.
Shrugging off the debate about how to best preserve the economy under these circumstances is an important policy discussion, and shying away from it with a slogan like the quoted one is not constructive. A more competent politician than Trump would be able to exploit this weak spot. But Trump still doesnt even understand that his planless denial is an even worse approach than Biden's weaksauce stance. He's a hopeless case. I just wish the alternative was better than what Biden has in store.
as someone ina 75 person company where 2 people wore masks previous to our out break that now has 50+ employees either covid+ and out, covid+ and returned, covid test pending, or burning vacation days i find this type of statement moronic.
i have friends at other companies with masks on all day, they've had a few outbreaks of 3-5 people then its contained.
no masks = virus runs wild.
when i live in an area where people shop with no mask on, work with no mask on, etc. i think ur statement is quite silly. shaming people into wearing masks is exactly what we need around me. it wont fix the economy, but its direly needed. im not lying, 50% of people in my area never wear a mask no matter what. since the pandemic started. they dont even own one.
