I think border security is probably one of the strongest positions that Republicans have, and as an outsider to that side of the political spectrum, I think it would behoove Republicans to start emphasizing that more than they already are.

It does seem like the dynamic has changed though in terms of the history of the debate. For so long border security was framed as wanting to stop illegal immigration, to protect American employment, and to lessen the exploitation of migrants. However, to me, it seems as though the situation unfolding now isn't even immigration or migration. It's the aftermath of social collapse, particularly in the case of Venezuela.
