That was a "gotcha" question by Mike Barnicle completely unrelated to where that interview currently was. If you watch the whole thing, or read the transcript, you'll see that he provided a real response to the Syrian issue, even after Joe Scarborough tried to double down on the gotcha.

You’re doing the very thing you’re crying about. You go out of your way to criticize Trump & put on kid gloves for Biden. The fact that you’re claiming Biden can speak eloquently about any number of topics, while ignoring his almost daily gaffs that even leftist pundits aren’t ignoring, then turn around & act like someone else must not have been keeping up with Biden’s speeches is hilariously ignorant. Joe used to be a slick guy who was on top of his game. That Joe Biden is long gone, & it’s readily apparent to anyone who doesn’t have their fingers shoved in their ears yelling na-na-na-na-boo-boo-orange-man-bad

Biden speaks just fine in bursts. the issue is it's never for long, and he can never last an entire speach or announcement. ever. u get 1-2 mins of coherent fluid policy speech or even off the cuff statements. then u get 4-5 mins of god knows what, mumbling, repetition, contradiction, etc. Sometimes the "bad" biden isn't so bad tho, just sloppy. and sometimes its a serious disaster. but there have been times in debates where the 1-2 mins he was good biden seriously did get me going and on his side.

Just don't pretend to be principled fiscal conservatives who fights for small government while an authoritarian party who is growing government at a rate faster than FDR goes uncriticized.

That would be very dishonest.
