Oh man, cops had to suffer through bruises? It's shocking no one murdered people because a few of them bruised cops, couldn't agree more.
a rock that can bruise can kill. dont downplay violence when its in your favor. I'm guessing the reason we don't have any more serious injuries is due to the riot gear, but one slipped helmet and we could be burying someone today rather than patching them up.
This violence, just like BLM violence, emboldens the opposition and potentially turns away possible independent minded allies. Its just bad news all the way around ,even though small in scale, the media runs with this shit for days exaggerating the issue. Riots that refuse to disperse can be constructive, riots that throw rocks arent IMO. Perhaps in the face of oppressive tyranny but not in the face of oppressive orange tans.

Obviously the cops shouldn't shoot the rioters, but you would think they would be more aggressive. I'm less convinced that it was a tactical assessment, and more of an order from the top to not escalate. Police departments don't want to be seen roughing up rioters because it'll be shown on every news network all week.
True true, it was likely a top down order. I think if a cop dropped dead though it would have been a different scene. We need another 10 years into development of non-lethals and these issues will be less of an issue. Shit there are still a lot of depts that dont stock tasers on their officers.
