Legal challenges are a part of the system. If they find nothing (most likely outcome) and 70% still reject it in a year that will be troubling.

Although a huge chunk of D rejected 2016 and to this day accuse the president of being a russian asset so who knows if you actually need to believe in the system for it to work.
