What are the side effects of Remdesivir? If it reduces the odds of a bad course of the disease so drastically, why doesnt every covid patient (say above a certain age threshold) take it?
Expensive as fuck. Still Seen as experimental so ur insurance company claims right to price gauge. As physicians that doesn’t play a role in if we use it though, just a sad fact
Main thing is hepatic/renal toxicity
Basically everyone has to be risk stratified who receives it. how bad disease course is and odds of decompensation (which we can make some guesses based on certain inflammatory markers) vs present kidney/liver function And what conditions they might have which might predispose them to hepatorenal toxicity.
Anecdotal and idk the specific numbers here but it’s like 95% of time the drug WILL bump your liver numbers, just a question of to what degree
