Do you feel comfortable with God's coming judgement? Does the reality of the damnation of the majority of the human race jive with your own view of justice?
I think we all deserve eternal punishment because we all rebelled against God. we deserve to be handed over to our sin and fleshy desires. Our stomachs became our gods and so we deserve to serve them into the grave. But God loves us so much he provided a way out. I feel comfortable in my position as a child of God. And yes although the majority of the human race is going to be dammed I do feel it is just. Francis chan have a wonderful example. ..
He was teaching a class one year with 3 essays. The first essay date showed up and a few people didn't get them turned in. They begged and pleaded to have mercy and have an extra day to complete it. He granted them extension. Thenext essay date showed up and even more students forgot their paper. so once again they begged and pleaded and they were shown mercy. And the students sang thanks to him. Finally the final paper was due and a third of the class didn't bring it in. "Surely he can't fail us all. a living professor wouldn't do that. " so when he asked for the papers one exceptionally bold boy said"Chill, we will turn them in later. " the professor took out his gradebook" Chris,0. matthew do you have your paper? No?0." "that's not fair!" the students protested. "Oh Chris? I remember you forgot your last paper,0. matthew same with you. ..0 on your last paper. " the class fell quiet. Don't ever mistake mercy with justice. Their will come a time where perfect justice will shock the world by it's perfect standard. many will be thinking they were good enough to make it into heaven, but there is a perfect standard. No one can earn heaven justly, only recieve it through mercy.
