Yes, and since you pride yourself on being someone that values our planet you should be ashamed. Trump absolutely trampled on Indigenous peoples rights to get illegal permits passed for this pipeline that everyone knew wasn't going to happen since the Obama administration. It would've endangered people that actually appreciate the land they have with obvious environmental and health risks despite the US now being energy independent
Doesn't matter how much we all care about our planet unfortunately she's been raped and pillaged since the start of the Industrial Revolution. The worlds "GDP" for the last 100 years was based on how well we could STEAL/EXTRACT resources from the planet.
Now when the planets life support systems are in total free fall, species die-off is off the charts. Now only NOW do we say, "Hey guys let's agree to start caring for the planet". Too fucking late. Way too fucking late.
Recycling is a joke.
Electric cars are a joke.
Wind turbines are a joke.
On and on we can go but we can never REVERSE the damage we've done.
The entire world as we know it was built on "never ending oil". Infinite growth on a FINITE planet. We are now about to slam into that wall at full speed.
People who think "we can go green" don't know how "energy" works. Sorry.
This world will NEVER transition away from fossil fuels because there is no alternative and the alternatives they "sell to the masses" cannot sustain exploding populations around the world. Unless of course 7 billion people die tomorrow. Then maybe it could be feasible.
edit: There is a great documentary called "Planet of the Humans" which gives a well rounded perspecitve on how unrealistic "green energy" was from the get-go and how fossil fuels could never be replaced. There's also the documentary "Peak Oil" which is good too. I don't agree with everything mentioned in them but definitely gives perspective that's for sure. Worth the watch if you can find em both.
