I don't like nutpicking. It's always easy to find nutty people who support a particular side.

But this isn't that. Trump has fanned these flames, and so have his propagandists. This is the biggest reason I support Democrats electorally... because the Republican party is a nutty personality cult.

However, I would actually caution against attributing this general nuttiness to Trump's influence. Those folks that I would call contrarian, anti-government "civil liberties fundamentalists" have been aligned with the GOP for a long time, long before Trump.
He has spurred them to drop any last bit of shame or decency though, so that's what I would blame him for. Anyway, these people were already batshit insane - he has just brought all the craziness to light.

I did not. I read it yesterday before the update was published. It doesn't cover everything that the article initially covered (like the FreedomWorks and Dorr Brothers stuff), but it is an interesting change (although IIRC, the original article did say that Murphy may or may not have been involved).
