did you just compare the density of an entire state with a single city?
btw, the pop density in San Francisco is not much lower than that of NYC, and the Bay Area and LA agglomerations have a comparable population size to NYC.
similarly, upstate New York also has sparsely populated, rural places, just like Cali. none of these minor differences can explain the vast difference in coronavirus outcome between CA and NY.
