Let's not beat around the bush: there is plenty of research showing that almost all generous welfare states were implemented based on the high degree of trust and solidarity within largely homogeneous societies. In the United States, racism, inequality and an unsolidaric mindset existed since the early 19th century, or even earlier. In this sense, the lack of a well-equipped welfare state in the U.S. is the heritage of slavery and Calvinism.

Are you two finally coming around to understand why many billionaire donors, even ones who are very conservative otherwise, are siding with liberals on racial and gender issues; why they are so keen on celebrating "diversity" and third world immigration?

Division/tension between genders and ethnicities are the most powerful obstacle against the implementation or expansion of redistributional policies.

Plz start a socialist state somewhere, create policies that make people lose everything they own so you can give it away to your fellow comrades and keep us updated on how everything works out. We could create a thread for you here in PARD: "Comrade Skinned's socialist paradise"

Plenty of countries around the world have a more socialistic value system than the US, and as far as quality of life they are doing it way better than we are.
