You aren't worthy of any modicum of effort, hence you get no such effort.

You should ask your doctor if dying mad about it is right for you.

funny how you keep parroting that line, but still get triggered into replying so often, and trying to bail your buddy out of the moronic hackery they regularly engage in. it was entirely your choice to get involved, and now you're rationalising your lack of arguments by pretending you don't care. funny how that apparently makes sense to a stupid person...

you should have finished reading that last sentence you quoted there, because it explained the disconnect betweem the first impression, and the explanation - which was ignored in order to create your 'meme'.

what it comes down to is that you support that people break rules designed to limit the spread of covid-19, while i think those rules make sense, even though they might confuse stupid people, who apparently think that going to empty places can do no harm, without realising that if the rules were not there, and smart people didn't follow them, those places wouldn't be empty.

so you can bitch and hack all you want, but this has nothing to do with reasonable and healthy scepticism against unjustified rules and authority, this is not the time or the place to be a 'libertarian' edgelord, people's lives are at risk, and you're just demonstrating your ignorance, and the joke that your political philosophy really is to a civilised society...

What I support is "do no harm" to others. So in the sense that I support doing no harm to others, so long as you are doing just that, and rules are preventing you from doing anything you would ordinarily do (in this case, paddleboarding) and you aren't doing any harm to anyone, then you shouldn't be under any obligation to obey said rule. The disconnect here is that this guy was actively doing something that was socially distant - the whole point of the rule in the first place, and the rule enforcers had to break the spirit of the rule to enforce the rule. It's rank hypocrisy, and you're here defending breaking the spirit of the rules to enforce the letter of the rules. No one's life was at risk until jackboots jackbooted. Next time you exit your front door, don't forget to ask if it pleases the crown, supplicant.

i explained to you - at least twice just in this thread - that this disconnect between the first impression of absurdity, and the underlying explanation, can easily be resolved by a couple of seconds of rational and critical thinking. apparently something you're incapable of.

his activity was 'socially distant', the beach was empty, because intelligent and reasonable people got it and behaved maturely. it's sad that you're either too stupid to understand that, or too stubborn and dishonest to acknowledge it, but your edgy pubescent 'rebellion for the sake of it' take is just blatantly dumb and also dangerous to a civilised society. it's also not 'typically american', otherwise the beach would have been crowded because it's in... you guessed it maybe... america.

People that have "The Fountain Head" as a bible will be the incapable of figuring out how to help this problem. Don't go down a rabbit hole with people that literally think preservation of themselves is the utmost service they can provide.

"The underlying explanation" doesn't carry any weight with me, for the aforementioned reasons.

If the beach is empty because other people were "being rational" in the sense that you consider rational, then he was also being rational in doing as he pleased because he was effecting the same thing they were; not mixing with other people.

Excuse me? Was he hindering the public? No he wasn't.

@ bold: that's a complete falsehood that is simple caricature of my actual position.

Is it me or is every dystopian authoritative movie or book has always had the premise of oppressing dissidents for the greater good. The greater good being decided by a select privileged few of course.

I think this corona virus outbreak is carefully being studied by think tanks, at least it should be imo. In time of crises you could take away freedoms for the greater good but what's more interesting is you could weaponize the masses to be willing agents in enforcing and public shaming. I'm sure the Chinese government is paying attention quite keenly.
