if you actually read that article, you'd realise how misleading your original 'meme' is: he was arrested for ignoring a 'stay at home' order and lifeguards, not for insufficient social distancing.
now obviously it still looks somewhat ridiculous considering he was all alone there, and as such not a harm to anyone, but that explains itself when you actually think about it for about as long as it takes you to say 'muh small government':
those orders are in place so public placed DON'T get overcrowded, allowing the virus to spread. if everybody was as selfish as him, the beaches would be full. his actions basically say he's better than the rest, rules don't apply to him if he considers them pointless. remember how chris chrisie shut down beaches to the public and then used it privately with his family? this is almost as bad. you know how you can get punished for running a red light, even if there's no other vehicle or person on the crossing? just think about it for a second if you can...
You can rest assured that if I use a source, I have read it and understand its contents. The 'stay at home' order
is an order to engage in social distancing.
Over here on this side of the pond, we tend to frown upon 'the rules' just for the sake of 'the rules.' Context matters. You can walk your dog, which literally means you CAN leave your house. You can exercise. They are picking and choosing (poorly, in this case) HOW you maintain those distances.
I get that you subscribe to the notion that you ought to obey authorities, no matter who they are or how they got into a position of authority. But just maybe if a few more of you were like August Landmesser, the world would be a better place?
