Agreed.

On a slightly different point, I'm a fan of slow government. A lot of tyranny has been introduced into this country in the name of national security and the greater good.

In this particular case, a quick government response would be most beneficial. But in most cases, I think politicians and governments take advantage of crises far too often and with haste.

let's not forget they already tried it in this instance as well: william barr's DOJ asked congress for significant additional emergency powers (that would apply during every kind of emergency, including natural disasters), that would severely erode habeas corpus rights:

luckily there seems to be some strong opposition to that in congress, but yeah, the party of the PATRIOT act is at it again. i wonder why they hate freedom so much...
