I can think of a pretty good reason, because we're just coming off a pandemic that caught us with our pants down with respect to the number of ventilators we had in supply.

Sure. "Adding huge amounts of ventilators to the national stockpile" is part of the "better use" I was alluding to.

In either case, overproducing ventilators is really the least of my concerns in the current situation.

Trump was right because he has advisers who know wtf they're talking about and have extensive info meanwhile low information people criticized him because it's the status quo no matter what he does.

It wasn't by chance or somehow he stumbled into being right. Like i said thank God there's people that listen to data to make decisions instead of the constant screeching. The TDS crowd is so obsessed with Trump being at the center of every move and/or reaction that they forget the executive branch is a whole team of people with varying expertise. Most of these types of decisions are not made by a single person independent of experts around them.
