That's what the woke left will do now - try to gaslight the normies into thinking the Taliban is better than far right extremists, because they know how to treat women properly

Taliban is nothing more than a long term goal target for the GOP.
at least they have role models now.

And yet its Twitter who allows them to have an account, while banning right wing politicians and voters.

Yes good, so the GOP can strive for both of their long term goals. Complete minority suppression and the right to post about it on twitter.

Matt Yglesias asking the questions the establishment media won't.

As of now I think it's fair to say the mainstream media is guilty of simplistic groupthink. They're taking the situation, which looks bad and some of Biden's statements haven't helped, as an opportunity to present themselves as "tough on both sides".

What America needs is a real conversation about the tough choices Biden faced, and what the other options were. From what I can tell, that conversation isn't happening in the establishment media.

China is more than happy to take advantage of the situation. Not only was this a huge waste of our own money, but it looks like by the end of it the biggest global threat to our hegemony will come out ahead.

China appears to be eyeing to clinch lucrative projects to exploit mineral-rich Afghanistan, especially the trillions of dollars worth of rare-earth metals, as it calibrated its policy to recognise the Taliban government.

Rare-earth metals in Afghanistan were estimated to be worth anywhere between USD one trillion to USD three trillion in 2020

On Wednesday, China said it will decide on extending diplomatic recognition to the Taliban in Afghanistan after the formation of the government in the country, which it hoped would be "open, inclusive and broadly representative".

An alternative might have been to keep sufficient forces in place to control the Bagram airfield, set a strict date for evacuation, and ensure that troops leave last. Instead we had troops leave and come back, desperate would-be refugees falling to their deaths from the wheels of our planes, and tens of thousands trapped in the country with nowhere to go.
