judging by the replies to my post, just a third of his loyal supporter base - most cultists apparently are completely fine with his (repeated) suggestions of censoring critical media and will happily make the most moronic excuses and whataboutisms to justify it.

also, coming from an administration that is setting new records in terms of falsehoods, misrepresentations, and outright lies it is a highly hypocritical 'point' to begin with - not even the worst ultra-left rag is even remotely close to trump's level of dishonesty and intentional deception...

well, trump's coalition is already stretched thin electorally anyway, he absolutely cannot afford any further defections beyond this point. if he really loses one third of his remaining coalition (which he wont just because of one stupid tweet, but the direction is worrying), then he's looking towards something like a 100 vs 438 electoral college blowout in 2020...

yeah, a third is definitely giving too much credit to the cult (i was just going by the direct replies to my post) - i think we're heavily overestimating the "significant portion" here. i think trump's own words about shooting someone on fifth avenue and NOT losing any voters come much closer to the truth. they don't really care about principles, free speech, right and wrong, or truth for that matter - all they care about is 'their' team 'winning'.

I disagree. There is no alternative to trump for them given the Democrat’s extremism post 2008. If they are smart as ypu say, they understand the election is a binary choice with opportunity cpsts.
