Guys like Matt Gaetz represent a real portion of the American electorate. We've turned into a country of complete morons.

yeah that’ll show them, call anyone you don’t like morons

i don't think matt gaetz is a moron. he's a massive douche for sure, but i have the feeling he knows exactly what he's doing and who he's pandering to.
he's a sycophant, a hack, and a grifter, desperately trying to make up for that one time he accidentally showed something even resembling a spine (war powers resolution), which unsurprisingly lead to immediate backlash from the emperor, who doesn't accept ANY criticism or resistance to his power grabs - but as much as i would like to say that about gaetz' incredibly punchable face, i don't think he's actually that dumb.

ease up on the violent rhetoric there fender aka heinrich. wouldn’t want you to actually try and act on it.

you do know what happened the last two times your lot started a fight, right?

That's the thing. Progressives and conservatives both have impressive intellectuals on their sides. And then we have the Trump movement, which doesn't really have any intellectuals, and lifts up people like Diamond and Silk. It's an inherently anti-intellectual movement. Adhering to some factual worldview would just undermine the authoritative figures in the movement.

and ironically enough prominent intellectual figures in both these groups deny simple things like math and election results

Trump’s entire election strategy was intellectually superior from the get-go, as he utilized a data and information driven campaign to win (ironically quite similar to Obama even though they’re in opposing parties). he also spent something like 1/10th of the money (when we are talking about personal money) compared to Bloomberg. Bloomberg won a territory named after a box of girl scout cookies and a nickname mini Mike, and Trump won the primary and the Presidency in a landslide

That's because Trump's movement, more so than any major movement before it, is operating on the open-closed political spectrum [1] in place of the traditional left-right or liberal-conservative spectrum.
Globalization and migration have divided the population of the Western world into winners and losers, with intellectuals and college-educated folks largely on the winning side while non-college and working-class people largely find themselves on the losing side.

This feeling is understandable but you can reverse it with some hospital bill or/and student debt
