Embarrassing.
Can anyone actually defend Trump in this video?
Ireland is not the UK. The only state Reagan lost was Minnesota, not Wisconsin. He very clearly doesn't understand the difference between a hard and soft Brexit.

What do you make of this statement: "You know it's interesting, one of the states we won, Wisconsin. I didn't even realize this until fairly recently, that was the one state that Reagan didn't win when he ran the board his second time. He didn't win Wisconsin, and we won Wisconsin. So you know, we had a great night."

Nope. I've already sorted through that possibility because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Trump lost Minnesota. There's no way this makes sense/is a factual statement.

If Trump meant Wisconsin, Reagan actually did win Wisconsin and didn't lose the state like Trump said.

If Trump meant Minnesota, Trump didn't win in Minnesota, so he didn't win the state that Reagan lost.

What do you think?

he likely just thought that Reagan didn't win Wisconsin (instead of Minnesota) which Trump won. I don't think that much into this statement tbh.

Does it bother you that Trump takes credit for blatantly false achievements like the one in the above clip?

I think it's important for our citizens to keep our leaders honest and accountable for their statements and actions.

He's repeated this statement many times before. Once at a campaign event in Wisconsin last month. Another time at a rally in Montana. And again here.

It seems like a pretty easy fact to look up. Do you think no one has tried to correct him, someone has tried to correct him and he doesn't care, he learned what actually happened and then forgot, he is intentionally making false statements, or what?

None of those answers are very reassuring. The President of the United States shouldn't get a blatantly obvious fact wrong on three occasions that stretches over months of time. You could blow this off as nothing, but it's a pretty blatantly obvious mistake to commit 3 times.

imagine a president who repeats the 77 cents wage gap over and over, which is worse?

Pretty harmless half truth imo. You can't really have nuanced positions in speeches so its a fine jumping off point for a wage gap that definitely exists.

The 77 cent statistic also says something in the implicit social attitudes about where women choose to go even if it isnt about discrimination so its still a valuable statistic.
