Lol, not even close. I was never a fan of Trump's leadership style, or of his erratic behavior and conduct. My support for him is rooted in policy agreement and my awareness that someone combining his agenda with this kind of charisma/appeal to the masses wont be easy to come by again.

There is nothing wrong with pragmatism and consistency - just note that this virus has caught virtually all governments around the world on the wrong foot. Virtually everyone had to correct course at some point, had to produce inconsistencies. Compared to other countries/world leaders, Trump's response to the virus ranks fairly low, dont get me wrong; I dont dispute that. What I am disputing is your notion that his response has been singularly bad. Just like I, more generally speaking, disagree with the assessment from the left about how bad and harmful his conduct actually is.

liberals: Trump is the devil
me: no, he's not
liberals: why do you defend him so much?

Dodge noted. I named three specific things that have happened between him and his appointed subordinates in the past two days and you said i said trump=devil and dismissed as hyperbole.

You dismiss me then whatever. Gg no re

They're so used to the media agreeing with their every neuroticism that when reality does disagree with them it makes them short circuit.

being asked to sit on the couch for a few weeks and wash their hands frequently has driven a few here madder than usual unfortunately

also a nice little reminder and in other “news”

We've all known that Trump has been a con artist whole life, even long before he became president.

Why does old fact still elicit an emotional reaction from people? Why haven't people collected agreed to not put any stock in his words?

Uhhh... because he's literally the most powerful person in the world. And as a result there's millions of people who still take him seriously.

I can't watch them anymore. Too depressing.

ive been watching them daily. they went from semifrustrating with hints of humor to typical Trump behavior. bullying reporters, dodging hard questions, contradicting his VP, team members, and experts, contradicting even himself in real time, etc.

last night when asked about Wisconsin elections and what might happen if many people get sick he said (paraphrased) "that's the responsibility of governors, so ask the DEMOCRAT governor, not me. if it goes bad, that's his problem. (pause, pause, pause) but of course we can't fail, its too important, we can't fail, so if governors fail i'll be there to help them. so go ask the DEMOCRAT governor."

then he implied the extension has nothing to do with health and it's only because he endorsed a candidate in Wisconsin. said if it was about health they should have asked for an extension a long time ago, aka like 3-4 weeks ago when Trump was calling this "just the flu" and implying it was a media hoax.

probably because 30% of americans think he's telling the truth?! basically same as you. only the most egregiously false, misleading, and obviously ridiculous stuff gets rationalised as 'well, that's just trump being a politician / con artist / hyperbolic - but hey, everyone knows it, so it's totally fine'. everything else is treated as gospel or excused as 'well, technically he might not even be wrong about this if *insert completely made up and unrealistic scenario*'.

You brought up two issues: a general criticism of Trump's behavior and my defense of him, which I addressed, and a list of recent bad actions. I didnt fully follow those recent stories, so I didnt comment on them. Believe it or not, I have other things to do than follow the minutiae of every single storyline in the American news cycle. Anyway, dodging was not my intention.

The navy captain thing - we dont know how tightly Trump is involved in it. I also lack the specific knowledge to really make an informed assessment of how bad or justified Cap. Crozier's actions were, and if they warranted his removal or not. Modly berating him on board of his own ship via 1MC was unacceptable though, and Modly was consequently forced to resign. Dont know, however, how much these events fall back on Trump.
.
The press secretary thing... didnt hear/follow this story yet, and I dont care tbh. Screams nothingburger.

The thing with the EO to cut Congressional oversight over the stimulus package is a very bad look, I dont support this move at all. Based on my current info, I'll concede on that one - this move is bad, no excuses.

He has a pretty distinct style of communication and thought process. I don't think it's necessarily lying but sometimes sales people tend to over promise & under deliver, flip flop back and forth on what they said, etc.

Like one day he is talking shit to China calling them oppressors and terrible and the next day he is calling Xi a very good friend.

Unfortunately most people get hung up on Trump because they don't understand that there are different types of communication. He tends to be very direct and when he flips the 'lie' is evident, meanwhile most career politicians will use vague noncommittal language and trying to pin a lie on them is nearly impossible because of the lawyer speak they used.

He reminds me of a sales person who will say whatever it takes to close a deal tbh.
