its been an underwhelming rollout. an obnoxious amount of ads that all seem pandering with no direction. ill be shocked if this works, especially as he's got a bevy of bad quotes to outrun to get the minority seal of approval that woke whiteys will require. Bloomberg looked like a bad ass rocket, but he's just a smokebomb i think.

I never expected much more than that tbh. No idea why you were so thrilled about him 2-3 weeks ago when you wrote "the only Democrat who can beat Trump is Bloomberg".
Bloomberg might have deep pockets and lots of fans in the media, but in the rest of the country, he has no natural constituency.

He's most likely a smoke bomb, but it shows just how inept and weak this field is from (D).

Incumbent is unpopular at near historic levels, we're extremely divided as a political body in the US and there isn't a single candidate that's really pulling this thing together.

Kind of amazing TBH. I really don't see how Trump is dethroned here. It appears Comrade Barnie is going to be the nominee (despite the DNC's best efforts), but I think it's going to get REAL ugly in the coming weeks.

All the candidates treated Comrade with kid gloves for fear of aggravating the swarm of Bernie Bros. They truly are a rabid bunch foaming at the mouth. Now that the end is near we're sure to see some serious hits on our favorite Bolshevik.

i still think he is uniquely placed to actually take some of the trump votes away, whereas all the other candidates are just jockying for building their own coalition, Bernie included despite whatever stupid studies suggest about their mythical "cross over vote".

Mike is a guy who has a record of cleaning up the nastiest city the US had. crime, homelessness, gang violence, bad school graduation rates, etc. NYC was a mess, and whether it was actually due to all his work or not he has the reputation all the same. this came at the cost of an additional stain, hurting minority communities.

but you want to know a secret, most white moderates, republicans, and even many democrats silently agree with what Mike did. not just in retrospect, they're for it now. they realize some areas have such a bad crime rate that stop and frisk is needed, that increased patrols are needed, etc. they're terrified to say it out loud, but this is what they think.

remember the 2016 "silent trump vote" that pundits laughed at. well it was there. and behind all of the Bernie is the revolutionary SJW hype magic there's a silent moderate/democrat vote that's looking for a stable candidate close to center and willing to do what needs to be done. they dont like that its a billionaire buying his way in, but they're happy there's a credible option.

its just his rollout was flawed. he waited too long, he shouldnt have skipped polls/debates/primaries, and he's clubbing people with so many ads with paid celeb endorsements that it comes off as sloppy and hamfisted.

at this point i hope that Bernie wins and is an 8 year lame duck president just so his rabid cult can feel the sting that MAGA voters feel for not having a wall and still having obamacare on the books. just so they can latch onto "direction" and "at least he's not trump" like maga voters are clinging to the economy numbers. its funny to hear guys with 10 years on a job talk about how trump is great because of job numbers. like wtf bro, u been here, you'll be here, trump's done nothing for ya. and its ok, lots of people get swindled ever day.

I don't want Bernie anywhere near the whitehouse for a number of reasons. 8 years would have him leaving office @ 86. The Bernie wave will end after this election cycle, no way he could pitch a run @ in 2020 @ 82 yrs while not being the incumbent.

Hard pass on that one. Not a huge fan of Trump potentially leaving @ 77ish. I think age is an important factor that comes into play.

idc about presidential age too much tbh. it just comes down to who the VP is at that point. and Bernie isnt showing the signs of age the way Biden or Trump appear to be.

I would imagine most people have seen how quickly mental capacity can degrade at that age. Honestly, i'd probably be in favor of putting a ceiling on the age to run just like we have a floor. Bernie definitely hasn't shown issues like Biden but that could change rather quickly.

i think the issue with an age limit is that we're getting close to the point in medicine where traditional ideas of degeneration are done for. and as potus candidates these people have access to the best.

but if it wasnt an issue for Trump in 2016 when he was mumbling and slurring words, completely unlike his speaking 10 years before which was fluid and sharp, then i dont see an issue for bernie. sure he's 10 years older, but seems 10 years younger.

age is like #7 on the list of reasons i wouldnt vote for bernie. and that might be generous lol

the biggest issue with his age imho is that it makes his VP pick extremely important, much more so than usual.
