I highly doubt that the bottom graphic is actually showing a crime map. Generally speaking, which government statistic uses a shitty category like "lower/higher crime rates"?

There surely is a strong correlation between the Democratic vote share and crime rates - but most of it is driven by the confounding variable "population density//urban vs rural".
