"Who campaigned on raising the minimum wage"
Yeah bullcrap lol. He mentioned it a few times but virtually never talked about it, and it was to his own detriment. If he had talked about raising the minimum wage more he might have won Florida where they voted on their own to do it.
Still, I don't think this is the right avenue to go about raising the minimum wage. I want it raised, but they should probably just focus on Covid relief and evictions.
He "virtually never talked about" anything. Biden spent 98% of his "campaign" locked in his basement.
Federal minimum wage is a shitty thing in the first place. Differences between states and hell, even different counties and cities within states have vastly different costs of living. What does a $15 minimum wage accomplish in San Francisco? Nothing. You still end up either homeless or in a 1 bedroom flat with 8 roommates. On the flipside, $15/hour in rural Southern Illinois could pay your bills and get you a healthy mortgage on a 2 bedroom house, as a single earner, assuming you keep your job, which many workers would not, especially non-corporate workers.
State/County/City should, at this point, be the only real considerations for minimum wage. Federal workers are already being paid above federal minimum wage except for prisoners, and minimum wage isn't applied to prison labor anyway.
It's such a stupid and nonsensical talking point.
