A few major decisions out of SCOTUS today, all seem to be in favor of the left in left vs right
6-3 the SCOTUS decided to reject the New York gun rights case, agreeing that the state made it moot when they rescinded their restrictions as soon as it would go to the unfavorable SCOTUS. This sidestepped it instead of setting a precedent that would knock down other state's gun laws, but other cases on those laws are still pending. This means states will be more empowered to play whack-a-mole with gun restrictions, putting them in place and then voluntarily rescinding them after it travels up to higher courts on appeals.
8-1 the SCOTUS settled the ACA case in favor of the Obama argument and against the Republicans/Trump, saying that the ACA's "shall" language in the risk corridors created a binding legal liability that insurers could sue for if failed to deliver, even if it didn't create an implicit appropriation. Thus allowing the Federal Claims compensation for insurers to circumvent express appropriations from congress. Only Alito dissented and agreed that this usurps the power of the purse by statutory redefinition. As Alito points out, this is a pretty big precedent;

Not only will today’s decision have a massive immediate
impact, its potential consequences go much further. The
Court characterizes provisions like §1342 as “rare,” ante, at
26, but the phrase the “Secretary shall pay”––the language
that the Court construes as creating a cause of action––appears in many other federal statutes.
also George v Public Resource but nobody cares about that decision. I'd need someone to explain to me why anyone should care whether annotations in the official georgia statutes are covered by copyright or not
but the gun rights and ACA cases are big news
