the issue is since you're a pure materialist, rejecting the immaterial is a necessary entailment of your belief system. you will reject the existence of a soul and demand material means to measure something that is not material. It would be like me asking you to bring me the molecule for the universal category of "seven". the universal category for the concept of seven exists outside of any particular human brain or set of human brains, but it is not a material thing.

the purely materialistic worldview cannot give an account for universals, transcendentals, things like truth, logic, ontology of numbers, the mind or consciousness. this isn't simply an ignorance problem or a "god of the gaps" problem, it's that the materialistic worldview must fundamentally reject such things at a foundational level.

in our worldview, the soul is a necessary part of a person that animates him, forms an integrated human person, posses the will, intellect etc. consciousness itself is a major function of the soul, it is not an "emergent byproduct of the brain" but posses its own distinct nature that is meant to be in full unity with the body. It's not like the soul is bad and the body is good, or the other way around.

generally speaking, when Christians speak of death, they are speaking of the separation of your soul from your body. this isn't what Adam and Eve experienced precisely at that moment, they experienced a loss of communion which is what leads to death and decay.


we cannot argue particular events in Christianity without first figuring out which worldview has merits, because a purely materialistic one clashes and contradicts the Christian worldview, as does the Christian worldview contradict the materialistic one. Both cannot be right, and there is no neutral worldview, so we have to give an account or justification for our own worldviews, given their explanatory power and internal coherency.

Personal testimony means nothing. There are thousands of competing religions who give their testimonies. You have as much credibility as a guy in a psyche ward who claims to hear voices of Odin. Clearly either one of you is right OR both of you are wrong.

The alternative is you say "I don't know right now" until someone brings an explanation with PROOF.
You can just say I am good no jesus for me. Bring proof of his miracles then we can talk until then respectfully I am NOT going to blindly believe it.

If god wants a relationship with me he is more than welcome to convince me he exists. I am not going to brainwash myself to have a relationship with an imaginary person.
People live perfectly well and happy without believing in a magical god. You should try it, if your god only exists if you belief form then he is no different to your imagination.
