i'm not convinced either. i DO think it's within the realm of possibility though, and certainly in line with netanyahu's political legacy. i mean, it's not a secret that netanyahu ACTIVELY propped up hamas in order to counter arafat and more moderate forces within palestine, that he (correctly) calculated that the occasional attack by radicals would keep the support for apartheid and occupation policies high, but i still don't want to believe that he would willingly sacrifice THAT many innocent israeli civilians for his political games - but i might be too generous there.

still, my own theory is that he got those warning but miscalculated / underestimated the size of the terrorist attack, that he was too "busy" dealing with the protests against his unconstitutional power grab, and maybe thought it was a welcome distraction that would unify the population to a degree.
