He didn't put forth his picks because almost no one thought he'd win. Trump winning was a David vs Goliath event, not many gave him a chance.
I meant drag or friction just had the word inertia on my tongue for some reason lol. The point is if you know you can't stop something but you know that the longer you prolong the fight the better it is. Instead of Obama rapidly getting the ACA through the republicans basically made it an extremely long fight and limiting what other big proposals Obama can push through. The same will happen with the immigration battle. The democrats know they can't stop but they will fight it anyways. Not only does that rally more people to your cause for future elections but it exhausts your opponent in a prolonged battle.
By your logic the democrats should provide no opposion and just let Trump & republicans have their way with immigration because it's going to happen anyways. It's nonsensical.
