Nope absolutely not. The KJV was the very first English version of the Bible. Textual criticism wasn't really around until the Enlightenment period when people saw textual criticism as a need.
they incorporated the best known versions available which while not a rigorous textual criticism was the best available to them
but if you don't want that to be confused with the definitely more critical approach commenced later, i'll accept that
btw, the kjv was NOT the very first english version
and you forgot to answer the first question from my post - why not?
plus let me ask you another question:
how did the faith people obtained from the kjv differ from the faith obtained from newer translations?
