Because a man going into a womans bathroom in a store at 12 at night might just make the store clerk a little bit suspicious. JUST SAYING THE OBVIOUS.... Where a man going into a unisex bathroom is going to be completely normal. It just makes it easier for a man to get into an area where a woman is vulnerable.

It's McDonalds, the layouts are such where you can't see the bathrooms from the counter. They are all pretty much like that.
Somebody committed to the crime if rape isn't going to not go through a door because it has a picture of a woman on the door.

Yes...? Your point? If the man steered the woman towards the mens bathroom, that would still look suspicious? Point being, a unisex bathroom is away from prying eyes, and is an environment in which a man can more easily take advantage of a woman.

I would and have used a Women's restroom. Mind it was just a single toilet at a gas station, but i see no problem with it.
