To be fair, Kristol is a neoconservative first and foremost, he's driven by his unwavering belief in interventionism and a world order shaped by America and its institutions. Over the last years, we have seen that the neocons/Bush republicans tend to be more at home in a Clintoneqsue version of the Democrats than in Trump's version of the GOP. It's a big and still ongoing alignment which causes figures like Kristol to effectively become Democrats, or politically homeless. This does not, however, make him a liberal, he's still a conservative on everything else, the economy, social issues, etc.
Kristol is not a “conservative” when it comes to anything other than hating people like me when it comes to my melanin content. He is a 1960s style-conservative when they were in the (D) party like Robert Byrd. Meanwhile right before that Pres Ike (R) desegregated the schools. poor little Billy Kristol he’s probably ticked off America’s economy is doing so well because we bullied China in the process.
