they're all based in the "political compass" with regards to social and economic left/right position. so each pane of the compass is generally filled with stereotypical stances by Economic right / libertarian left, and the other 3. as well as the center sometimes representing "normal people" or centrists.

so like in the bathroom one, 3 sides are concerned with trans bathroom rights with different stances, where one side just wants people to pay for bathroom access. that's the punchline. generally one pane of the meme is a pure punchline.

balrog, who posts most of them, isnt american.

I was exposed to the political compass through this sub. And like most things on the internet, a lot of the humor is US-centered. It helps if you can laugh at things without agreeing with them :)

to be fair, truly principled right wing libertarianism is so incompatible with a modern state that the jokes basically write themselves...
