When you lead large efforts one of the most effective strategies anyone can do is delegate tasks to qualified people. Trump could still be the figure head while letting let people show their experience etc and trump would actually look decent doing this. The PROBLEM is his ego is too hugely and he is far to ignorant to understand. So he just gets his stupid ass up there everyday and looks like a fool. If his giant ego would just let him STFU for about 3 months it would be so much better for everyone

Ya know, if he was just a buffoon in front of the camera but ran the back end well, I wouldn't care about his reality TV bullshit. But he runs his administration like a reality TV show, and he has important day to day responsibilities, he's the damn president.

During the 2016 election all the presidential candidates were given the opportunity to answer a set of scientific questions and elaborate on their policies.

My PI gave everybody in our lab a copy for every candidate.

Some of the candidates weren't great, as expected, but Trump's answers were not only the shortest of anybodies, but I can't remember him actually addressing a single question. This wasn't an interview or anything, it was a written survey.

He has never showed any indication public or private that I'm aware of that he understands even basic scientific ideas. Add that in with his pathological need to be seen as the smartest person in the room (probably spawned from his surrounding himself with yes-men all his life) and his inability to listen and you've got a president who can't even begin to give sensible leadership in the face of a real emergency.



That same PI, when asked, said he has voted Republican his whole life (he's from Texas) but could never vote for somebody as totally inept as Trump.
