Not many people here do. It's 65-75 degrees outside like 300 days a year with 30% or less humidity.

Average highs are 79+ for 5 months a year according to the Google.

Also according to the Google, average monthly humidity only drops below 60% 3 months a year.

You can literally drive 5 miles and go from 110 degrees to 79 degrees here. There are a ton of microclimates. I'm sure they have a/cs in Northridge, but not in Santa Monica.

this seems pretty true, according google the variation is yuge

Also I don't think I even know anyone here who has an a/c. I have a 40s style home with transom windows and plenty of fans. Works fine.

I hate to agree with INK, but I spent 20 years in the SF area...no a/c. Drive 15-20 miles EAST and you'd die without a/c.
