It's a lose-lose sitaution. If Bernie didn't have a 2.5 million net worth they'd say that he's too ineffective to do anything; he has no power. When Bernie has a decent amount and that too accumulated over a period of time which is a reasonable net worth for someone his age he still gets blasted.
I didnt blast him for his net worth, I just rejected the notion that someone with a net worth of $2.5m isnt rich or at least very well-off.
In my personal opinion, being 'rich' or 'privileged' is not just about money or a lavish lifestyle, it's about security, it's about not having to worry about the future material well-being of oneself and one's family.
Even if someone's net worth is mostly tied up, as Thor mentioned, being at $2.5m is still such a vast cushion that I have to consider this person to be rich.
