Sure, but it still means that he's living a comfortable life without having to worry about money. And keep in mind that he, as a Senator, has access to a gold-level healtchare plan with 72% of the cost being covered by the taxpayer.

And just for the record: the median household net worth in the U.S. is just $97k. Which means that half of all American households have even less than that. So while Bernie probably doesnt belong to the top 1% with his $2.5 million, this net worth still ranks very high on the ladder.

So would every doctor, lawyer, engineer, ranking politician, etc etc that is at retirement.
Bernie is not some middle class dude, he is a senator.
If he was a crooked senator his networth would be 10 times what it is.
And as you said, he has gold plated health coverage yet here he is fighting for free health for all.
