People simply don't view the tradition of marriage as necessary. Does not mean they won't be common laws their entire life.

I live in a place where marriage is foreign and they're only labeled common laws because of tax law. Yet they all remain with their partner their entire life.

Marriage was created by humans - for the same reasons as anything else created by humans - control and prosperity. I’m perfectly fine being single, I love it. I mean I’m also gay so it’s a little different for me, I don’t have to worry about passing on any offspring. It’s great not answering to anyone, doing what I want, when I want, how I want. Blowing money on things with no one to complain about it. Pure freedom. I come… and go as I please.
