Because it's incredibly frightening to consider the idea that all of this just exists because it exists and that you don't matter and aren't part of some grand plan.

It's a scary universe, and we all cope the best we can.

I dont even feel fear, but i always have the fact that i will some day cease to exist hanging over me, its probably the closest i have ever felt to fear, this thought that one day it will just go black.
I just cant logically believe there is more beyond what we have, i have seen zero evidence of it, and the alternatives all sound like fairy tales.

Take the bible for existence:
Follow our beliefs and you live on forever, follow anyone elses and burn forever..
Doesnt matter if you are good or bad, doesnt matter how shitty of a person you are, follow us and you are safe..

Now if thats not a construct to take advantage of the feelings i just described i dont know what is.
