I don't know much about Rubin... he was a liberal, but now he's a classical liberal(or libertarian)?
I just watched the JRE clip of him on identity politics... he just sounds like a typical right-wing libertarian. I feel like he's been portrayed as a liberal who wants to have a conversation with the other side. Outside of social/cultural issues he seems to agree with most of the people he talks to.
Maybe I'll listen to the full podcast later... he seems boring.
well it's always tough with labels and hopefully I get his backstory right from memory
he was liberal and worked with tyt
found out he's not that sort of liberal because tyt pretty much acts like foreign anti-trumpers that post here all the time
so then he started this classic liberal libertarian thing and built his business on pretty much interviewing the alt right or controversial figures and some typical well known conservatives to have "discussions"
the only problem i found is that he has almost zero pushback while interacting with these folks which just ends up with content that is the right walking over the pushover on his own platform
what I think he does represent well are the people like him and I and perhaps you? that get and feel pretty pushed out of all sides because of a more reasonable way of looking at things, ideas and issues over tribes, discussions without the over the top stuff
since political cannibalizing and gatekeeping are so popular now I feel if he does any good it's just existing as a moderate and sensible human being with an audience
